Swedish cellist Torleif Thedéen is one of the most distinguished instrumentalists in the Nordic countries and enjoys an international profile as a recitalist, concerto soloist, recording artist and pedagogue. He is a laureate of numerous international cello competitions, including the Casals Competition. Torleif Thedéen, född 17 november 1962 är en svensk cellist. Thedéen nådde internationellt erkännande när han 1985 vann tre av världens mest prestigefyllda cellisttävlingar. Thedéen arbetar regelbundet med världens främsta orkestrar och dirigenter. Bach’s Cello Suites, as presented by Pablo Casals on this album, is an excellent example of an outstanding musical performance. There is great fluency demonstrated by Casals as he performs the allemande of suite #1 on this album; this fluency of expression extends to the other songs presented throughout the album.
Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. His numerous and acclaimed recordings for BIS include the major cello concertos as well as Brahms's Sonatas and Bach's Suites. A passionate chamber musician Composer, Johann Sebastian Bach.
They have recorded works by Prokofiev and Anton Webern, by Shostakovich and Hindemith, by Chopin and Schumann. Violin maker Michael Sturzenhofecker has come to Norway to hand over a newly built cello to Dextra Musica and the Norwegian Academy of Music.
